Cagayan De Oro / Iligan Relief Operation | Print |  E-mail

A week before Christmas, news about the Cagayan De Oro and Iligan flash floods shook the nation and instantly set off a relief operations response from the COP congregation within hours after the announcement in the weekend services was made.  At the earliest available flight, a 9-man team (comprised of ECS members Jorge Em and Manlo Coronel, CS members Emmanuel Galvan and Lito Espanol, as well as Em brothers Jerry and Jerald, COP’s media correspondent Joel Fernandez and Pastor Marlon Delos Reyes) was flown to the affected provinces.  With them they brought the entire congregation’s support and generosity that produced food and basic supplies enough for 655 families from the different churches in worst-hit areas.  Each relief package includes 5 kilos of rice, canned goods, blankets and clothings for children and adults, baby milk and other ready to eat items.  The COP team laid the groundwork for the collaboration with different churches for the relief operations such as AG churches, UCCP, Baptist churches and a number of other independent congregations.  All of whom were thankful to COP for being one of the first of the Christian churches to be on the ground to do this side of the ministry.  Special thanks go out to the Sanicare family and staff for mobilizing their workforce in the CDO region to assist in the operations, accommodating the team’s stay in their staff house and lending their vehicles to deliver the goods in the target areas.  On top of this, they organized their own relief operations by providing hot meals to the flood victims.  To all who joined hands and hearts with us in support and prayers for Cagayan de Oro and Iligan, we thank you and may you receive a harvest of goodness from God’s bounty!  Maraming salamat COP! <<View Image Gallery>>
